What About The Shack?
Speaking about Willian Paul Young's The Shack, Eugene Peterson said "This book has the potential to do for our generation what John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress did for his. It's that good!" Or is it? William Paul Young's fictional account of a spirutally wounded "Mack" Phillips meeting "God" in a "Shack" in the wilderness is wildly popular among Christian and non-Christian circles today. But just because something's popular doesn't mean that it's doctrinally sound and edifying.
The Shack - specifically its teachings - have been defended by many who argue that it’s simply a work of fiction. But if a professing Christian (Young) were to have God as a character in his work of fiction, then shouldn't he deal with God as He has revealed Himself in Scripture? By using the Trinity as characters, Young clearly intends to write about the God of Christianity. But God has revealed things about Himself in Scripture that this novel clearly contradicts. In The Shack, Young has chosen to change the character of God and, in doing so, he's effectively saying that the God who reveals Himself to us in the Bible is insufficient for our needs. Young seeks to "improve" on the character and nature of God in order to make Him (or her) more palatable to man. But God never changes Himself so that we can understand Him better (Hebrews 13:8). Instead, through the process of our practical sanctification (Romans 8:29), He changes us so that we can see Him as He truly is (1 John 3:2). If He, being perfect, were to change Himself, then He would cease to be God. The following apologetic works regarding The Shack clearly show how this and many other doctrinal errors (and heresies) plague this book. We strongly encourage you to read these apologetic works and understand why Calvary Chapel Loveland has taken the stance we have against recommending The Shack to anyone.

Inside the Revolution takes you inside the winner-take-all battle for the hearts, minds and souls of the people of the Middle East. It includes never-before-seen profiles of The Radicals, The Reformers and The Revivalists. It explains the implications of each movement, the importance of each leader, and does through not only through the lenses of politics and economics but through the third lens of Scripture. Today, wars and revolutions define the modern Middle East, and many believe the worst is yet to come.
How real and serious is the threat of Radical Islam to American national security eight years after 9/11?
Are there any Muslim leaders who oppose the violence of the Radicals and is there any hope that such leaders will come to power in key countries in the Middle East?
How can we as Christians help strengthen our brothers and sisters who love Jesus in the Muslim world, and how can we reach out to Muslims here at home?
Joel Rosenberg has also produced an Inside the Revolution DVD.
This DVD, based upon information found in the book, along with new developments, is a must see for everyone. Check it out at www.thechapelstore.com. You can also watch or download a free, 2-hour townhall webcast from by clicking here.

Right now, Truth is under attack, and much is at stake. In a postmodern culture, Christians are caught in the crossfire of alternative Christian histories, emerging faulty texts, and a cultural push to eliminate absolute Truth altogether. As a result, many churches and Christians have been deceived. Worse still, they propagate the deception that poses itself as Truth!
There is no middle ground - no safe zone for the uncommitted in this war. The battle for truth is raging, and this book reveals:
The pitfalls of postmodern thinking
Why the Emerging Church Movement is inherently flawed
Past skirmishes in the Truth Ware and their effect on the Church
The importance of truth and certainty in a postmodern society
How to identify and address the errors and false teachings smuggled into churches.
In The Truth War, John MacArthur reclaims the unwavering certainty of God's Truth and anchors Christians in the eternal, immovable promises found in His Word.
