Sunday Service - The Burden of Damascus

Oct 25, 2026  •  Kevin Cox

Damascus is the oldest continuously inhabited capital on earth — and the Bible says it will one day cease to exist. In this message, Pastor Kevin Cox opens Isaiah 17, one of Scripture’s oldest unfulfilled prophecies, and shows why a city that was “never supposed to still be here” is one of the loudest arguments for the reliability of God’s Word — not against it.

We trace the pattern underneath the prophecy: how God brings a proud people low in order to save a remnant, and how that is the very same way He saves a human heart. We look honestly at the partial fulfillment under Assyria (2 Kings 16), the reason Damascus and Israel are judged together (Isaiah 7), and the striking detail that Syria is missing from the Gog coalition of Ezekiel 38 — and what that may mean for the days ahead.
