Sunday Service - Men of Integrity, Men of Worship

As many of you might know, one of the ways I serve at Calvary is as the Men’s Ministry Leader. Some of you may wonder what Men’s Ministry is, or think that it is primarily Bible studies and events. Today I want to reframe this for you: While studies and events are included, the vision is so much broader.

Instead of thinking about “Men’s Ministry” and whatever stereotype pops into your head when you hear those words, think about it as the church’s “Ministry to Men.”

All of the men — not just those participating in the weekly studies or coming to events, and not just the men who attend our church either, but all of the men we as the church encounter and interact with.

And, don’t think of it as a top-down kind of ministry either, dependent on one leader. (That will fail big-time!) Think of it more as men ministering to other men, under the guidance of scripture and the Holy Spirit working as a team. My role as leader is to serve, support , empower and inspire other men to use their own gifts and talents in order to minister to each other.

This morning, I want to present a vision for Men’s Ministry through the lens of Psalm 26. As I contemplate this Psalm, I see within it a framework for Ministry to Men that is rooted in God’s own character, and how He is working in each of our lives to guide us into our ultimate purpose as Christian Men.
