Sunday Service - Sufficiency of Scripture

Oct 11, 2026  •  Jon Wretlind

This sermon explores the doctrine of the Sufficiency of Scripture through one of the Bible’s most challenging passages, Psalm 137. By examining the grief, suffering, and cries for divine justice expressed by the Jewish exiles in Babylon, we discover why Christians must embrace the whole counsel of God—even passages that challenge our modern sensibilities. Through the Psalm’s central theme of remembrance, its contrast between Babylon and Zion, and its appeal to God’s righteous judgment, we are reminded of God’s faithfulness to His promises, His sovereignty over history, and His ultimate victory over evil. The sermon challenges believers to worship authentically, remain faithful to God’s revealed Word, proclaim the Gospel with urgency, and trust that God can transform even our deepest suffering into hope and restoration.
